Ashley Wilburn is a native of Hagerstown in Maryland. She graduated from North Hagerstown High School where she received her secondary education. With a deep passion for family law, Ashley's current legal practice is centered around a variety of aspects of family law. She focuses her practice on divorce cases, alimony matters, marital property division and child custody battles as well as child support arrangements. She also deals with post-divorce enforcement and post-divorce issues including step-parent adoptions as well as private party adoptions as and concerns regarding child welfare. In addition to family law, Ashley also handles estate planning matters, including probate, wills, trusts, and estate administration, along with commercial contracts, civil litigation cases. Ashley has served a court-appointed mediator since 2019, assisting parties in helping them settle their disputes without needing court involvement. Ashley mediates private matters and also court-appointed mediations for people who want to avoid court proceedings and litigation.
After finishing her undergraduate studies at Loyola University of Maryland, where she received dual bachelor's degrees in History and Political Science, Ashley pursued her legal education at Western New England University School of Law. She graduated in 2013 and was placed among the top 10 students of her class. Ashley was a Note Editor for the Western New England Law Review during her time at law school. This demonstrated her commitment to scholarship and research in the field of law.
Following the completion of her law degree, Ashley embarked on a clerkship journey, working for notable jurists in Connecticut and Maryland. She was fortunate to work as a law assistant to the Honorable Richard A. Robinson at the Connecticut Appellate Court and the Honorable Elliott D. Prescott. In 2014, she returned to Hagerstown, Maryland, to serve as an attorney for the Honorable M. Kenneth Long, Washington County Circuit Court. In 2015, Ashley joined the esteemed law firm of Poole & Kane, P.A. as an associate attorney. Her main responsibilities was representing the Washington County Department of Social Services in cases involving child welfare. Through her dedicated efforts, Ashley played a vital role in helping children who were victims of abuse or neglect at the by their parents or caregivers. Her commitment to social justice extended beyond the legal realm as she actively served as a board member of the Washington County Human Trafficking Task Force, working diligently to increase awareness of human trafficking in the tri-state region.
In 2017, she was a founding member of Kane, Wilburn & Stone, P.A., where she developed her practice in the fields of family law - divorce child support, custody and guardianships as well as estate planning, wills, trusts and powers of attorney, advance directive/healthcare proxies - and mediation.
Ashley established Wilburn Law Office, LLC, in 2023, with the goal of providing a personalized approach to every client's needs.
