Ashley Wilburn, a native of Hagerstown, Maryland, proudly comes from North Hagerstown High School, where she completed her secondary education. With a deep passion for family law, Ashley's current legal practice is centered around a variety of aspects of family matters. She concentrates the majority of her practice on divorce cases, alimony disputes the distribution of marital property, child custody battles, child support arrangements, prenuptial and postnuptial agreements, enforcement and post-divorce issues as well as step-parent and private party adoptions, as well as child welfare concerns. Ashley has been a mediator appointed by the court since the year 2019. She assists parties to resolve their disputes without the necessity of litigation or court involvement. In addition to mediations arranged by the court, Ashley also mediates in private cases for individuals who wish to avoid the court process and litigation.
Ashley completed her undergraduate studies in History and Politics at Loyola University of Maryland. She then pursued her legal education through Western New England University School of Law. She graduated in 2013 and was placed among the top 10 students of her class. While in law school, Ashley served as a Note Editor for the prestigious Western New England Law Review which showcased her dedication to legal scholarship and research.
Following the completion of her law degree, Ashley embarked on a clerkship, working for notable jurists in Connecticut and Maryland. She was privileged to serve as a law assistant to the Honorable Richard A. Robinson at the Connecticut Appellate Court and the Honorable Elliott D. Prescott. In 2014, she returned home to Hagerstown Maryland to work as a law clerk for the Honorable M. Kenneth Long, Washington County Circuit Court. In 2015, Ashley joined the esteemed law firm of Poole & Kane, P.A. as an associate attorney. Her primary focus at the firm was to represent the Washington County Department of Social Services in cases concerning child welfare. Ashley's tireless efforts were instrumental in helping children who were victims of neglect or abuse at of their caregivers or parents. Her commitment to social justice extended beyond the legal realm since she was actively an executive member of the Washington County Human Trafficking Task Force working tirelessly to increase awareness of human trafficking within the tri-state area.
In 2017, she was a founding partner at Kane, Wilburn & Stone, P.A., and developed her expertise in family law, including divorce, custody and child maintenance as well as guardianships – as well as financial and estate planning, wills, trusts and powers of attorney, advance directives/healthcare proxies – and mediation.
Ashley created Wilburn Law Office, LLC 2023 with the goal of providing a personalized approach for every client's needs.
