THE BIO

Ashley Wilburn, a native of Hagerstown, Maryland, proudly is a graduate of North Hagerstown High School, where she completed her secondary education. With a passion for family law, Ashley's present legal practice focuses on various aspects of family matters. She concentrates her practice on divorce cases, alimony disputes, marital property division and child custody battles as well as child support arrangements. She also deals with the post-divorce and enforcement of issues such as step-parent adoptions and private party adoptions, as well as concerns about child welfare. Ashley has served as a mediator appointed by the court since 2019, assisting parties in helping them resolve their matters without need for litigation and court involvement. Ashley mediates private matters and also court-appointed mediations for people who want to avoid court proceedings and litigation.

Ashley completed her undergraduate studies in History and Politics at Loyola University of Maryland. She continued her legal education at Western New England University School of Law. She graduated in 2013 and was ranked among the top 10 students in her class. While at law school, Ashley served as a Note Editor for the esteemed Western New England Law Review and demonstrated her dedication to legal scholarship and research.

Ashley began her clerkship path after completing her law degree. She worked for distinguished jurists from Connecticut and Maryland. She was privileged to be being a law clerk for the Honorable Richard A. Robinson and the Honorable Elliott D. Prescott at the Connecticut Appellate Court. In 2014 she returned home to her hometown of Hagerstown to work as a clerk for the Honorable M. Kenneth Long at the Washington County Circuit Court, deepening her understanding of the local legal landscape. Learn more about Ashley Wilburn

In 2015, Ashley joined the esteemed law firm of Poole & Kane, P.A. as an associate attorney. Her main responsibilities at the firm involved representing the Washington County Department of Social Services in matters pertaining to child welfare. Ashley's tireless efforts were instrumental in helping children who were victims of neglect or abuse at the of their caregivers or parents. Her commitment to social justice went beyond the legal realm as she was active as an officer of the Washington County Human Trafficking Task Force and worked tirelessly to raise awareness about human trafficking in the tristate area.

In 2017, she was a founding member of Kane, Wilburn & Stone, P.A., where she developed her practice in the fields of family law - divorce, child support, custody, and guardianships - as well in estate planning - wills, trusts, powers of attorney, advance directive/healthcare proxies - and mediation.

Ashley started Wilburn Law Office, LLC, in 2023, with the goal of providing an individual approach to each client's needs.
